Honeymoon

We spent three weeks in this rig and traveled 4,500 miles. We visited the states of TN, NC, VA, WV, PA, NY, VT, NH, ME, MA, RI, CT, NJ, DE, MD. And I believe that RI, CT, and MD are the only ones we did not spend a night in. 15 states, 12 of which we spent one or more nights in on a 22 day trip. And we still had time to enjoy each others company. We did have a very enjoyable trip.

I will get photos up here soon. Many are on Kay’s phone and I will need her to help me get the right photos with the right locations.

Our honeymoon travels

After spending Sunday night local to the wedding, we traveled to Ocoee, Tennessee and spent Monday night.

Tuesday, June 14th, we Departed and drove to Cherokee, North Carolina where we picked up the Blue Ridge Parkway, drove North to Asheville and up to Black Mountain, North Carolina where we stayed at Montreat Campground.

Wednesday morning June 15th. We left Black Mountain and continued up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Independence, Virginia where we found a nice Campground alongside New River where we spent Wednesday night. On the water. Beautiful location.

Thursday June 16th, we left the parkway and drove across Virginia and West Virginia to Bruceton Mills, West Virginia where we found a very nice remote campsite at Coopers Rock State Forest.

Friday June 17th, we pulled out of Cooper’s Rock State Forest and continued North to Erie, Pennsylvania and followed the lake from Erie taking in some lighthouses in route Northeast to Dunkirk, New York. This was Friday evening and we chose to get a motel room on Lake Erie and greatly enjoyed watching the sunset from the pier behind the motel over Lake Erie. We also greatly enjoyed our room as it had a large in room jacuzzi.

Sabbath morning the 18th we pulled out of Dunkirk, New York and made the trip over to Sardina, New York where we spent Sabbath with friends of Bob’s.

We spent the night there and got up Sunday morning the 19th preparing to go to Niagara Falls when we got a pleasant surprise as Bob’s friends are in to flying and took us on a helicopter tour of the area. After our flight we continued on our trip to Niagara Falls where we spent some time there enjoying it and then followed North to Lake Ontario and some more lighthouses. Then Northeast to Daisy Barn Campground in Wilson, New York.

Monday June 20th, we pulled out of Daisy Barn Campground in Wilson, New York and continued along Lake Ontario to additional lighthouses and then stopped at Webster County Park campground in Webster, New York. County Park. Very wooded and nice.

Tuesday June 21st, we left Webster, New York continuing Northeast and additional lighthouses and stopped at Saranac Lake, New York and spent the night at Camp Cherokee.

Wednesday June 22nd, we left Saranac Lake, New York and drove to Lake Placid. After spending some time there, we continued South to William Miller Farm in Low Hampton, New York then continued on to Emerald Lake State Park in East Dorset, Vermont.

Thursday June 23rd, we left Emerald Lake State Park and continued East by way of Washington, New Hampshire and then on to Tuckaway State Park in Nottingham, New Hampshire. Another beautiful campsite on the water.

Friday June 24th, we left Tuckaway State Park and continued East to Bar Harbor, Maine arriving at Arcadia National Park.

Sabbath morning, June 25th, we drove back to Mainland as we had seen a church on our way in and we drove to Ellingsworth, Maine where we had a pleasant morning and then Fellowship dinner at a park near the church. Then drove back to Arcadia and after touring the National Park we drove to the top of Cadillac Mountain to watch the sunset from there then went back to Bar Harbor Campground for our second night.

Sunday June 26th, we drove back across Arcadia and down to a lighthouse on the point that we had missed the day before then drove South to Freeport, Maine and south of town out on the peninsula we found a campground overlooking the ocean where we spent Sunday night.

Monday June 27th, we left Freeport Maine where we had enjoyed our campsite though it was a little more occupied than we prefer and many of them we had been to. Others were enjoying the coastal Camp too. We visited the Portland head light then continued to Boston. We had planned to spend some time in Boston but it was pouring down rain and chose not to get out and walk the streets in the rain so continued on South to Fairhaven Massachusetts and the Joseph Bates home where we spent the night.

Tuesday June 28th after tour of the Joseph Bates home we continued West to New York City where we stopped by Ellis Island. We did not take the time for the ferry trip and after some pictures we continued South into New Jersey where we stopped at Bella Plains State Forest for the night.

Wednesday the 29th we left Bella Plaine State Forest, drove to the East Point Lighthouse and then continued South to the Cape May lighthouse. After which we drove back up to the Lewis ferry terminal and took the 70-minute Ferry trip across to Delaware. There we camped at Delaware seashores State Park in Bethany Beach, Delaware. At the Delaware Seashore State Park, we were just across the road from the ocean so spent some time there that evening and the following morning.

Thursday June 30th, we left Bethany Beach, Delaware and continued South along the coast. After going under the bay, we came up at Virginia Beach, Virginia and stayed at First Landing State Park.

Friday the 1st of July was a busy day. We started with some time on the beach and then took in two lighthouses at Virginia Beach. Then continued our Drive South and out to the Barrier Islands where we took in the Brody Island Lighthouse then continued South to Fresco, North Carolina. While there we were able to watch the sunset over the bay as we were on the Barrier Islands. We camped there Friday night and spent Sabbath enjoying the location.

Sunday morning July 3rd we left the Fresco Woods Campground and backtracked North to Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Following our visit there we continued North to where we could get back to Mainland and then West to Saluda North Carolina where we had reservations for Sunday night to enjoy the fireworks at The Orchard Lake Campground. We got there just in time to watch the fireworks and set up camp for the night.

Monday July 4th, we stayed at The Orchard Lake Campground and spent the day swimming and canoeing on the lake followed by another night in our Lakeshore campsite. July 5th, we left the Orchard Lake Campground and spent most of the day in Hendersonville and then down to Kay’s home in Taylor to get her car before going back to Flat Rock North Carolina where we had a very nice room at the Mountain Inn and suites with an in-room jacuzzi and a very nice location to end almost 4 weeks of our honeymoon.

July 5th Kay had to head to school and Bob returned to AL. Very soon we will both be calling Alabama home.
